FREETOWN AT FUGGERSTRAAT26
FREETOWN is a group show, and the adaptation of a project first shown in collaboration with S.M.A.K. during the Fire is Gold music festival. FREETOWN at Fuggerstraat26 is the first presentation of POC POC, The Constant Now's coaching programme that links young artists of color with art professionals. The title refers to a new community of artists. By collectively sharing their personal stories inspired by their cultural background, the artists help shape the foundation of the group's unique identity. FREETOWN is about tracing kinship and connections between cultures, individuals, and artistic practices.
Featuring artists include: Sadrie Alves, Gladys Bukolo, Lou Cocody-Valentino, Maria E André, Awa Gaye, Gaëlle Mwamba, Hussein Shikha, and Subin Son. Curator: Magali Elali Coaches: Karen Van Godtsenhoven, Marie Gomis-Tresize, Helena Kristis, and Sofia Dati.
On the opening evening was the performance 'Discarded Flowers' by Subin Son. FREETOWN ran from 13-30 October 2022 at fuggerstraat26 in Antwerp.
