POC POC MANIFESTO AT WORM ROTTERDAM
The POC POC MANIFESTO is an evolving initiative by The Constant Now, designed to address the unique challenges that People of Color (POC) encounter in the art world. Originating from private discussions within the POC POC mentoring program—which connects emerging POC artists with seasoned professionals—the MANIFESTO has transitioned into public events at institutions like FOMU, Kunsthal Gent, de Brakke Grond, and now at WORM Rotterdam.
The MANIFESTO encompasses nine chapters, each focusing on critical themes such as Community, Education, and Practice. These chapters are informed by private and public conversations, reflecting the complex realities POC face in their artistic journeys and broader societal contexts. By embracing new voices and perspectives and engaging with diverse locations, the POC POC MANIFESTO fosters dialogue, builds support networks, and amplifies POC experiences. This participatory process ensures that the manifesto remains a living document, continually evolving with each new conversation and insight.
Join us on Wednesday, March 26, at WORM from 20:00 to 21:30 for an inspiring conversation featuring artists Quinsy Gario, Monali Meher, Imge Özbilge, and curator Guinevere Ras.
The talk will be accompanied by a screening of Camouflage (2017). The award-winning animated short film, written and directed by Imge Özbilge, was part of the official selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017 and is included in the collection of the M HKA Museum.
